Regular Meeting - June 5, 2007
Mayor Sheila Williams called the meeting to order and Citizen James Walker offered invocation. Tracy Sullivan, Town Clerk called the roll.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT
Commissioner Michael Jones, Commissioner William Sharpe, and Commissioner Cheryl O’Neal. Town Administrator, Sonya Meeks.
Presentation of the 2007 Safety Award to the Town of Sharpsburg by Mr. Woody Wilson of Electricities.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES AND APPROVAL TO PAY THE BILLS
Motion was made by Commissioner Jones to approve the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on March 6, 2006. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Sharpe.
Motion was made by Commissioner Jones to approve to pay the bills. The motion was seconded by Commissioner O’Neal.
Bank Balances were read by Tracy Sullivan, Town Clerk.
CITIZENS PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS
a. Pastor David West - Citizen West inquired about the invoice he presented to the Town at the last meeting. Sonya Meeks, Town Administrator stated that Mr. West would receive a correspondence from the Town about his invoice.
NEW BUSINESS
a. Motion was made by Commissioner Jones to adopt the resolution (read by Sonya Meeks) presented by Upper Coastal Plain Council of Government, for the Solid Waste Management Three Year Updated Plan. The Motion was seconded by Commissioner O’Neal.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS
Commissioner Michael Jones praised the Town Employees for the progress they were making on the Town Parks.
Chief Bissette read the Police Department report. (Attached)
Commissioner O’Neal thanked all the Town Employees for a great job.
Clifton Wallace, Utility Director read the Electric report. (Attached)
Mayor Williams thanked the Fire Department for Helping with a fire hazard in the Town Office.
Robert Smith read the Water and Sewer report. (Attached)
Sonya Meeks, Town Administrator, read her monthly report.
Earnest Armstrong read the Streets and Sanitation report. (Attached)
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mayor Sheila Williams announced that the Public Hearing for the 07/08 Budget would be on June 19, 2007 at 7:30p.m.
CLOSED SESSION
Motion was made by Commissioner O’Neal and seconded by Commissioner Sharpe to go into Closed Session.
OPEN SESSION
Motion was made by Commissioner O’Neal and seconded by Commissioner Sharpe to return to open session. The Mayor, Sheila Williams announced that there was no action taken in closed session.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made by Commissioner Sharpe to adjourn and the motion was seconded by Commissioner Jones.
